We still need some parents to take some positions on the PTO board. We don’t bite!

We’ll also need some volunteers to help us with various events and ongoing functions like the car rider line in the morning and afternoon. If you can just do one event or one day a week on the car rider line (for 15 minutes), that would be a huge help. Let’s get involved!

The new executive board will then appoint the chair positions. A flyer will be going out to all parents very soon asking for volunteers. If you are interested in holding any position on the board next year, please contact Tabitha at TWalker@covenantdove.com ASAP to let her know.

If you know of other parents you think would be good additions to the board for next year, encourage them to get in contact with Tabitha. As you know we really need more help.

April 12 – ArtsFest

April 20-  Riverwood Walkathon:  We need parents to walk with the children during the walkathon to make certain we keep our young participants safe and orderly.  If you would like to walk along with your child (if they are participating of course), I have the following list of times that each grade will be walking:

 7:30-8:20-     5th grade

8:20-9:10-     4th grade

9:10-10:10-   2nd grade

10:50-11:45  Kindergarten

11:50-12:45- 1st grade

12:50-1:45-    3rd grade

April 24-27 (Tuesday- Friday)  8:00-10:30 am-  TCAP proctors needed:  We are in need of 20 proctors for this 2 1/2 hour period.  If you can help, please e mail me and let me know the date you will be able to assist.  I believe this is 20 volunteers altogether, not per day.

May 9- May 11- Field Day:We will be having a concession stand available and we 4 people per time slot to assist selling concessions.  The time slots are as follows:

8:00- 10:00 am &

 11:00-1:00 pm

Please e mail me with the date and time slot you would like to volunteer.  I will make a spreadsheet of the volunteers and send it back out as soon as we have all of the slots filled.  As always, thank you for your hard work this year.  Your teachers and the parents in your classes appreciate you and so do I.  Please remember to pass this along to your class parent e mail distribution list.

Trash for Cash

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle!

The Riverwood Elementary PTA takes part in many activities that earn money to support our programs for the school or get supplies without spending money. We cannot do it without YOU. This list briefly describes some of different ways that you can help. Just by saving pop tabs, box tops, and other household trash, you are helping us use our Trash for Cash! Please ask your family, friends and neighbors to help too!

Box Tops for Education(www.boxtops4education.com)

Cut out the “box tops” logo from participating products like General Mills, Ziploc®, Kleenex®, Avery® labels and Huggies®. If you can bring them to school in bags of 50 or on collection sheets of 10, 25, or 50, it is a HUGEhelp. Please watch the expiration dates. Also, if you go to the Box Tops website and sign up to receive their newsletter, Riverwood Elementary gets extra points!

Action Item: Cut out those box tops and get your friends to cut them out also!

Pop Tab Palooza

Save your aluminum can pop tops and turn them in to the school any time. We will save them up for the annual “Pop Tab Palooza”.  This year’s date for the school to turn in tabs is October 15th at Kroger at 799 Truse Pkway, Memphis, TN.

Action Item: Save up your can pop tops!

This fundraiser benefits the Ronald McDonald House.
